Sculptor: Paul R. Montford, Casting by the A.B. Burton Foundry, Thames Ditton. The work commenced in 1914 at the outbreak of WWI and was completed in 1926. The bridge features four figurative groups by London sculptor Paul Montford.
The Peace & War group was damaged by a German bomb in 1941 and later repaired by Glasgow sculptor Benno Schotz.
Peace & War, the allegorical group features a woman with child (wearing the traditional headdress of many Glasgow sculptures), and a highland warrior.
Navigation & Shipbuilding, Navigations has her hand on a tiller while Shipbuilding holds the model of a vessel.
Commerce & Industry
Philosophy & Inspiration, unfortunately someone has discovered a new use for ping-pong balls.

Jim
Thanks for posting all these kelvingrove monuments. I wasn't aware of this bridge so this is a real treat to see these statues.
I did have to laugh at the philosopher's skull though. As vandalism goes that is pretty funny. I take it he sometimes gets a cone on his head too to add insult to injury.
