Alan Herriot is an artist / sculptor working today and seems to have the current Scottish war memorial sculpture market cornered.
He is currently working on a Robert the Bruce memorial for Aberdeen and has made a maquette of a proposed Polish memorial based on the Polish Army bear mascot Voytek. There is no decision on where this statute will eventually be erected.
He has recently worked on the Norwegian Navy dog ‘Bamse’ memorial at Montrose harbour and has also done the 'Drummer Boy' memorial at Winchburgh
He was also responsible for the four 51st Highland Division memorials raised in France, Holland and Scotland over the past few years.
51st Highland Division Monument, Schijendel, Holland and its copy:
51st Highland Division Monument, Perth
51st Highland Division Monument, Breville, Normandy, France and its copy:
51st Highland Division Monument, Bruar, Perthshire
I don't know that much about him, but he was a pupil of Scott Sutherland of Commando Memorial fame and is currently based in Midlothian.
He has his own website:
http://www.alanherriot.com/.
