This statue of St George slaying the dragon stands beside the Italian Chapel on the island of Lamb Holm in the Orkneys. The armature of the figure was made using barbed wire and is coated in concrete. Its design was by Domenico Chiocchetti. The base of the statue contains a scroll of the names of the Italian prisoners.



I believe the inscription (although unclear in my photo) is P di G, abbreviation for prigionieri di guerra (prisoner[s] of war).
