Memorial to the writer Robert Pollock.

A favourite of mine this is a surprisingly impressive memorial standing on what used to be the busy junction of the Keltie Bridge Road and the A77, the main route from Glasgow to Ayrshire. This has now been by-passed by the building of the M77 and the site is now a peaceful country road and cycle route to Fenwick.

I've never managed to find out anything much about Robert Pollock and don't know the name of the sculptor. I will try to find more information.
Some basic info is available here:
http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/heritage-detail?idcall=867&submit=Go&page=16&textsize=3

Sculptor: Unknown.

Location: At junction of Keltie Bridge Road and A77 on souther edge of Glasgow. Its a bit difficult to find now due to the spaghetti junctions of the modern M77 but best approach is to drive south from Clarkston Toll southbound along the Mearns Road to and through Mearnskirk. When you reach the large junction and slip-roads of the M77 drive straight through and follow the brown cycle route signs for Fenwick and its a mile or so down the road on the right side just before you reach the junction with the A77.

There is some damage to the stonework next to Pollock's right elbow. From its position I wonder if ne'er-do-wells have tried to remove the bronze from this monument?
