Thanks to RWWelsh for this extra information.
------
Powderhall Bronze in Edinburgh is reputed to be the only fine art foundry left in Scotland. There were many in that particular area during the inter-war years and many of the memorials erected in those years were cast by companies based in Edinburgh.
Powderhall Bronze was founded in 1989 by Brian Caster who was mentored by the renowned sculptor, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, during his postgraduate training at the Royal College, London. As well as casting new works of art, Caster's company were responsible for the statue of Donald Dewar which now stands at the top of Buchanan Street in Glasgow.
In the summer of 2008 Caster undertook the refurbishment of Dollar Academy's War Memorial. This re-bronzing process has left the memorial in a similar condition to when it was first erected in 1921.
------
What a great name for someone who runs a foundry - Caster!
